She won Oscars for her performances in Morning Glory (1933), Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967), The Lion in Winter (1968) and On Golden Pond (1981). Her other films include The Philadelphia Story (1940) and The African Queen (1951). She had a long love affair with Spencer Tracy and made several films with him.
