- a former US magazine which was known especially for its photographs. It was first published in 1936 by Henry Luce who owned Time magazine. His aim was to enable readers ‘to see life; to see the world; to witness great events’. It was published every week until 1972, when it went out of business. It was brought back in 1978, appearing every month until 2000. From 2004 to 2007 it was given free every week with certain newspapers. It closed in 2007.
