  1. born Harold Sydney Harmsworth (1868-1940) an English businessman who owned several newspapers, including the Daily Mirror and Daily Mail. His brother was Lord Northcliffe. His grandson, the third Lord Rothermere (born Vere Harold Esmond Harmsworth, 1925-1998), took over the Daily Mail from his father in 1971 and also owned the Mail on Sunday and Evening Standard.
