- (1936-2017) a US comic actor who had her own popular television series, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, on CBS (1970-77). The show, in which she played a television journalist, won three Emmy awards (1973-74 and 1976). She was later in the television series Mary (1986), Annie McGuire (1989) and New York News (1995). Moore's films include Ordinary People (1980) and Flirting with Disaster (1996).
