  1. (1882-1974) a US film producer, born in Poland. In 1916 he established Goldwyn Pictures, which later became part of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. He received an Oscar for The Best Years of Our Lives (1946), and his other films included Wuthering Heights (1939), Guys and Dolls (1955) and Porgy and Bess (1959).
