Scientific American

- a US magazine published each month since 1845 about scientific research and discoveries. The articles are written for readers who are not specialists, but they are more technical than those in a general magazine. There are also various international editions published in different languages. From 1990 to 2005 the company owning the magazine also had a television series on PBS, called Scientific American Frontiers, presented from 1993 by the actor Alan Alda.
