Sweeney Todd

- an imaginary character, also known as the ' demon barber of Fleet Street', who first appeared in 18th-century English cheap magazines and plays. He is a London barber (= a person whose job is to cut men's hair and shave them) who kills his customers by cutting their throats and then sells their bodies to be made into meat pies. Sweeney Todd, a musical show with words and music by Stephen Sondheim, opened on Broadway in 1979.
