  1. gardens in Cornwall which were originally created by the family who lived at Heligan House from the 16th century until the first half of the 20th century. The family had introduced many plants from around the world and experimented with new methods of growing fruit and vegetables. The gardens were not looked after for many years until Tim Smit discovered them in 1991. The gardens have now been restored to their original form and are open to the public.
