the Royal Mint

- the company owned by the British government that is responsible for making all the coins used in Britain. It also makes coins for many other countries, and produces military and prize medals. Paper money is made by the Bank of England. Since 1968 the Royal Mint has been based at Llantrisant in South Wales.
