  1. the television system created by Ted Turner from the single station he bought in Atlanta in 1976. He began CNN in 1980 as part of TBS, which also now includes Turner Network Television, the Cartoon Network and Turner Classic Movies. TBS became part of Time Warner (now WarnerMedia) in 1996.
