United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service
(also United States Forest Service)
- the organization controlled by the US Department of Agriculture which protects and manages America's forests and grasslands. It was established in 1905. It does research and provides educational programmes and advice to individual states and private forest owners. The Forest Service works to prevent and fight forest fires.
