Tulsa

- the second largest city in the US state of Oklahoma. It is a port on the Arkansas River which connects it to the Gulf of Mexico. It was settled and named Tulsy in the 1830s by members of the Creek people forced to leave Alabama. Oil was discovered there in 1901, and the city remains a centre for the oil industry.
