  1. Victor Sawdon Pritchett (1900-97) an English author. He is best remembered for his short stories, which are full of humorous criticism of British life, and for his writings about literature, e.g. The Living Novel (1946). He also wrote the life stories of several authors, including Chekhov, Turgenev and Balzac. He was made a knight in 1975.
