- (1765-1837) the king of Great Britain and Ireland from 1830 to 1837. He was the son of George III and spent many years in the Royal Navy. He is also remembered for having had ten illegitimate children (= children born outside marriage) with a female actor. His most important action was to create 50 new Whig peers to vote for the Reform Act against the Tories in Parliament who were opposed to it.
