- a town in Suffolk in eastern England, which has been a major horse-racing centre for about 400 years. It has two famous racecourses where some of Britain's most important races take place each year. It is also the home of the Jockey Club, the National Stud (= centre for breeding horses) and the National Horseracing Museum.
