    CultureIn the late 19th century the Apaches, under such leaders as Cochise and Geronimo, were the last native North American people to be defeated by the US Cavalry. Today many Apaches live on reservations (= areas of land kept for native North American people to live on) in the states of Arizona and New Mexico and there are also communities in Texas and Oklahoma.
