  1. a British film (1945) made by David Lean, based on a play by Noel Coward. It is about a married woman and a doctor who meet in a railway station and fall in love. After a short relationship they decide to separate, although they love each other. The film is well known for its beautiful photography and for the typically British middle-class way the couple don't show strong emotions.
