Douglas Fairbanks

- (1883-1939) one of the most popular stars of US silent adventure films and one of the people who established United Artists. He was married to the actor Mary Pickford. His films included The Mark of Zorro (1920) and Robin Hood (1922). He made a few films with sound that were not great successes. After he died, Fairbanks was awarded an Oscar for his life's work in films.

- (1909-2000) a US actor, the son of Douglas Fairbanks and usually called Douglas Fairbanks Junior. His films include The Prisoner of Zenda (1937), Gunga Din (1939) and Ghost Story (1981). He was in the US Navy during the Second World War and won many medals. He settled in London in the early 1950s and produced films and television shows. Fairbanks was married to the actor Joan Crawford.
