  1. Alex Higgins (1949-2010) a British snooker player born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He was the youngest ever winner of the world snooker championship in 1972 and went on to win again in 1982. He played his last tournament in 1997. He was given the name ‘Hurricane’ (= a violent storm) because of the speed at which he played. He was often in trouble with the authorities because of his violent behaviour.
