Little Nell

- a character in The Old Curiosity Shop (1841) by Charles Dickens. The story is about a girl, Nell Trent, who together with her father is forced to leave her home. After many adventures and much suffering Nell finally dies. The scene describing her death is well known, and is sometimes criticized as too sentimental (= full of exaggerated emotion).
