  1. a British dance company, based in London, which developed out of a ballet school started by Marie Rambert. From 1926, the school's students gave regular public performances, and in 1935 a dance company was formed, then called the Ballet Rambert. It was directed by Marie Rambert until 1966. It then began to perform mostly modern dance and has performed all over the world. It took the name Rambert Dance Company in 1987 and became simply Rambert in 2013.
