  1. a former British government organization, part of the home office, that was founded in 2008 and was responsible for controlling who entered and left the country and for dealing with applications for permission to stay in Britain and to become a British citizen. The Agency was closed in 2013 and its work is now carried out by departments of the Home Office: UK Visas and Immigration, Immigration Enforcement and UK Border Force.
