/ðə ˌjuː keɪ ˈfɪlm kaʊnsl/
- an organization created by the British government in 2000 to develop the film industry in Britain by providing financial support for development and training. It was ended by the new Conservative/Liberal Democrat government of 2010, and closed in 2011. Many of its functions were taken over by the British Film Institute.
