- a popular BBC television comedy series (1965-75). The main character, Alf Garnett, is not well educated and has extreme right-wing opinions, especially about black people and foreigners living in Britain. He argues all the time with his wife, his daughter and her husband, who all make fun of him. A US television series based on Till Death Us Do Part, called All in the Family, was broadcast on CBS in the 1970s and 1980s. see also Archie Bunker
