Timothy Leary

- (1920-96) a US psychologist and teacher who supported the use of illegal drugs. He became popular with hippies in the 1960s when he encouraged people to take the drug LSD. He taught at Harvard University (1958-63) but was dismissed when he and his students took part in experiments with LSD. He spent three years in prison in the 1970s.“Turn on, tune in, drop out.”
